sounds to me like you won't change the icon?

I don't say it's perfect but in my opinion it's better than the old one.

i know how to replace it for the program shortcut, but i have no idea how to do it for the task bar icon

In OperaTor go to opera:config#UserPrefs|ApplicationIcon and enter the path to your custom icon. You can use the operator.ico file from the old package. Hope this helps.
