How to I get Opera Tor to see my installed Opera 9.60?

Submitted by Anonymous on 10.10.2008, 12:20

I updated Opera to Version 9.60, independant of Opera Tor. So when I use Opera, independant of OperaTor, and click about, it says 9.60.

When I click on the OperaTor shortcut, and Opera opens, and I click on “about” it says I have Opera 9.52. When I click on update, it says a new version of Opera is available and offers a download link to 9.60 (which I already have installed, of course), so I don't go any further.

So the question is, when I use Opera Tor, and Opera opens, and I click about, why does it say I have version 9.52?

I'm assuming that I only have one version of Opera on my PC. Thanks. jay

9.60 and Tor,me too....

Same apparent problem for me. I'll close Tor and await developments. I've been an Opera user since forever.

I've just determined that

I've just determined that when OperaTor installs, it installs Opera in its own directory, independant of an existing version of Opera on the hard drive.

So now I have Ver. 9.60, which is my independant version (which I didn't uninstall prior to installing OperaTor) and I have Ver. 9.52 which is the version installed by OperaTor.

When I tried to install Ver. 9.60 in my OperaTor directory, the install routine “finds” the existing independant Opera Ver9.60 install and offers to remove it; I am not allowed to install Ver. 9.60 on my hard drive for the second time.

So it appears you cannot have two installs of Opera on your PC at one time.

Probably, I should uninstall my existing, independant Opera 9.60 and then run the Opera 9.60 setup file and it will no doubt find the Ver. 9.52 installation OperaTor made.

I'll update this thread as I progress. Jay
