Definitely cannot get any dynamic spacer under address box on this version.

Also on install I always get as well as HTTP HTTPS the following also selected in Proxy Settings:FTP,WAIS,Gopher and enable HTTP 1.1. Should this be left selected or should I deselect the last 4 mentioned.
Do not turn off HTTP 1.1. FTP, WAIS and Gopher are irrelevant. Polipo doesn't support them anyway.
